Dr. HyeRan Choo received two Doctorate of Dental Medicine degrees, one from Seoul National University in Korea and the second from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She completed her orthodontic residency training and a Master of Science degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2007 and became board-certified by American Board of Orthodontics by the written and clinical examinations in 2008. Following the residency, Dr. Choo went on to complete a craniofacial fellowship at the National Institutes of Health / National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in Bethesda and became a full-time orthodontic attending/ assistant professor at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania Facial Reconstruction Center in 2008. Dr. Choo is currently credentialed as an orthodontic consultant at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Oakland/Richmond and at the Children’s Hospital of Oakland. Dr. Choo practices at her private offices in the San Francisco Bay Area, enjoying married life and parenthood of raising a one year old son. Dr. Choo has clinical expertise in orthodontic treatments using Invisalign® as well as conventional braces for various malocclusions. She has also established her clinical expertise in the protocols of infant maxillary orthopedics (aka, Nasal Alveolar Molding (NAM)) for babies born with cleft lip and palate. Dr. Choo’s research and clinical efforts focus on developing clinical applications of orthodontic bone anchors and 3D imagery for orthodontic patients.
